A CALL FOR CAMP COUNSELORS:

When I was 16 years old, I received a phone call from a Pastor whom I have never heard of, and he asked me if I would counsel at his church camp. I was a little hesitant because I had never heard of church camp, but I was looking for something to do, so I said “yes".

I have been volunteering with the church camping program ever since. For 26 years I have looked forward to my week of camp. Although the camps are designed for the kids and they are our main focus, any counselor will tell you that they get just as much, if not more, from the week of camp as the kids. For me, camp is my sanctuary; it is my safe place to retreat every year. It is a place away from the daily battles of life. At camp, I take off my spiritual armor and rest in God’s peace. Camp is the place where I polish my helmet of salvation and I pound out the dents in my breastplate of righteousness. I weld the cracks in my shield of faith. I re-string the laces in my shoes of readiness. I tighten up my belt of truth and I sharpen my sword of the word. Camp is the place I go to rest and re-coup. Although I am physically exhausted, I am spiritually refreshed. At the end of the week, I put on my armor and I am ready for another year of spiritual warfare back in the real world.

The camping program is looking for folks just like you. You do not need to be a Bible scholar or teacher. All you need is a love for Christ and for kids. If you will give yourself to God for one week, I am certain you will come away strangely refreshed and ready to take on life.

Wearing His Armor,
Pastor Rick Robinson
